Although there is no single way you clean up your living space, there is a way to get it all done with ease.

The basic rules of home cleaning will be covered in the following points:

Cleaning Burned Pots

Badly burned and scorched pots can be cleaned, even without scrubbing. You can start by covering the area with baking soda. Once that’s done, pour boiling water to fill the pot about a third of the way. When the water cools down enough to touch, you can use a sponge to scrub away the scorched area affected by the baking soda. Dump the mix after and wash the pot using hot water and soap.

Cleaning Up Your Sink

Your sink, specifically the tap, can be freed of food particles and bacteria, using something as simple as an all-purpose cleaner. Cleaning the tap is necessary more often than not since we often touch it with dirtied hands. You should also clean your sponges more often, to banish bacteria within. If you have a microwave at home, you should ensure the sponges lack any metal inside. Just get the sponge wet and fry it inside the microwave for a minute, a minute and a half. Let it cool off before picking it up, to avoid scorching yourself. If your sponge holder has suffered bacterial buildup of mould, use a toothbrush dipped in bleach, then wash the sponge with hot water and soap.

Keeping Your Surfaces Clean

Wiping the counter and stove with an all-purpose cleaner after each use is a great way to keep it spotless. Stoves benefit from regular and quick cleaning, so grease, drips and splatters won’t be harder to wipe out later on. For baked-on splatters and grease, you will need a tougher approach. Non-scratching scrubbing sponges can provide a solution, alongside a powder cleaner. For stainless steel, you can scrub with the grain instead of going circular, so you won’t put any scratches on.

Cleaning Small Appliances

The exterior of the smaller kitchen appliances such as toasters, coffee makers and blenders can be wiped with all-purpose cleaners. This will keep the greasy sports and splatters away and keep your work area looking good. For tougher stains and a deeper cleaning, you should take off the removable parts of the appliances and carefully wash them by hand. Giving the exterior another pass with an all-purpose cleaner won’t hurt either. The hard to reach places can be addressed with cotton swabs or a toothbrush.

Cleaning the Refrigerator

One of the easier ways to keep your refrigerator clean and free of unpleasant smells is to do one simple daily routine. When you are throwing away your rubbish, hold the fridge open and look at the contents. If you see any leftovers, fruits or vegetables that have gone bad, simply dump them. Make note of the expiration dates in there and keep track of those as time goes by, getting rid of anything that isn’t fit for consumption anymore.

You can clean spills inside the refrigerator with another simple solution. You can make a compress with a rag dipped in very hot water. Press the wet rag onto the sticky spot and allow the heat and moisture to soften it up until it’s loose and ready to wipe away. If the spot is still clinging to the surface as stubborn as before, keep repeating the same treatment until it eventually loosens up. Once that is done, you can wipe it off and treat the surface with an all-purpose cleaner for optimal results.

© MillaG5

Every home gets dirty after a while.
